How to Organize the Perfect Girls’ Trip to Florence

Image
In a world with no consequences, I would happily live out the rest of my days eating pizza in Italy, while rolling through the streets like a round ball of dough. Sadly, these fantasies of pure indulgence are not likely to come true anytime soon. But  I think we can all admit that we’ve dreamt of grabbing our best friends and jetting off to Italy, where dreamy accents can make even “fettucini alfredo” sound like poetry. There’s just something about this incredible country that makes it the perfect escape destination – whether it’s for the food, landscapes or beautiful men  (*cough* I mean art). In particular, there’s many reasons why Florence is ideal for a girls’ weekend, the first of which (as you might have guessed) is its abundance of beautiful humans. Besides that however,   the city also boasts a pretty perfect mix of beauty, relaxation and enough food for a lifetime. I’ve been lucky enough to visi...

Where to find the Best View in Rome: The 4 Best Views in Rome

Image
After a handful of visits to Rome over the past few years adventuring around Europe, I’m convinced I could never tire of this city. Whether you’re roaming the city streets with a slice of fresh pizza in hand or navigating your way through a melting tri-scoop gelato cone, you’re going to find this city is best discovered when you’re in the know. I set off to discover the best photographic points in the city with local guide Simone, who helped me discover the best of Rome is both in the old and new: the discovered and undiscovered. So here we have the very best views of Rome! Terraza Borromini A relatively recent addition to the rooftop bar scene of Rome (which is surprisingly few and far between), Terraza Borromini might just be the best kept local secret. The terrace overlooks a panoramic view of the city and is best visited at golden hour, with plenty of time to unwind with an aperitif and wait for the sunset to roll in. Location: Via di Santa Maria dell...

San Marino: Day trip or overnight stay in this tiny country?

San Marino: Day trip or overnight stay in this tiny country? San Marino | Europe Published: September 2018 | Disclosure: My accommodation was provided by the Blogville project For such a minuscule country, San Marino provides a fascinating collection of unique facts, outstanding views and an impressive history.  Given its size though, many people opt to take just a day trip to San Marino from one of it’s neighbouring Italian cities and not spend a night or more getting to know it. As the fifth smallest country in the world, and surrounded by Italy, it’s easy to see how San Marino could merely be a novelty country tick while travelling around the Emilia Romagna region of Italy. But I for one think that this micro-state deserves at least one night of your vacation. Overnight or day trip to San Marino? San Marino is more extensive than most people would assume, given the old town of the nation, with its three towers perched on the hill, gets most of the attentio...

Biking Italy’s Apennines Mountains In Emilia Romagna

Image
Biking Through Emilia Romagna Reggio Emilia, Italy Biking is an excellent way to explore the Reggiano Apennines Mountains of Northern Italy, home to medieval castles, chestnut forests, and rural farms. Italy’s Emilia Romagna region is typically known for exotic cars (Ferrari, Lamborghini) & cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano). But head up into the foothills and you’ll find adventure, like I did. Bikes are the preferred mode of transportation in these parts, and a large network of single track paths and country roads makes for great mountain biking or road touring outside the town of Reggio Emilia. If you truly want to experience “real” Italy, this is the place. While millions of travelers overrun the more popular destinations like Rome & Venice every year, Reggio Emilia is relatively tourist-free. Locals are proud farmers, the food is excellent, and the pace of life is slow. Lambrusco Grape Vineyard Parmigiano Reggiano After a short 1.5 hour train ride ...
