Remote incest cult discovered in Oz

Remote inbred cult discovered in Oz One of the world's worst cases of inbreeding Australia, a popular destination for gappers, is famous for its stunning natural scenery and dazzling cities, but today it’s in the news for slightly less savoury reasons. In what sounds like the synopsis for a Stephen King novel, a colony of 40 severely inbred adults and children have been found living in a remote valley in the state of New South Wales, a case which has creepy parallels with the Aussie film Bad Boy Bubby (pictured). Much of the family, which encompassed four generations, was children, many of whom were found to have serious deformities and disabilities. Most were unable to speak intelligibly and lacked knowledge of any basic hygiene. Their homestead consisted of two dilapidated caravans, two sheds and two tents, all without running water, sewage disposal or electricity. The harrowing case came to light following the release of documents from the New South Wal...

Olympic diver Tom Daley is taking a short gap year

Image
Olympic diver Tom Daley is taking a short gap year London 2012 Bronze Medallist is seeing the world with his best mate, just like one of us Even world famous and fabulous Olympic divers with tiny shorts need to take some time out now and then. And if you can get a TV show out of it and your almost 2.5 million Twitter fans to egg you on along the way, why not? Tom Daley, along with BFF Sophie Lee, says he is ‘At my first location now… I wonder where it is?’ on his Instagram feed. The pic of him doesn’t reveal much apart from a beach and his naked six pack of a chest – just clocked his cool ode to the Olympics tattoo there. Top guesses include Mexico, but we’re thinking it’s the Philippines.   If, like Tom Daley, you don't have the time for a full gap year a short gap year is the perfect choice and you can still fit in a whole host of adventures. "I can't wait to get away on my trip," said Daley. ...

Bognor booms because of Bond

Bognor booms because of Bond Bognor Regis might not excite you, but to some, it’s paradise. And James Bond is one who thinks this. The British seaside resort has seen a rapid rise in visitor numbers following the decision to film scenes from the new James Bond movie there. The website LateRooms.com reported a 40% increase in hotel bookings in the West Sussex town since January when news of the filming was leaked. A spokesperson for the website said: “Bognor Regis is a real British seaside gem, but not the first place you would expect to be a Hollywood filming location.” The 23 rd instalment of the James Bond series, called Skyfall , is expected to be one of the hits of the year when it’s released in November. It’s thought that Bognor Regis was chosen as a site for filming after MGM Studios, the film studio that will release the next Bond film, was forced to slash the movie’s budget after financial difficulty. Particular highlights of Bognor Re...

The world’s fastest man

Image
The world’s fastest man Adrenaline and extreme sports are popular gap year activities but one adrenaline junkie has taken it a step further by becoming the world’s fastest man. Espen Fadnes may not be a bird or a plane but you could mistake him for Superman as he soars through a Norwegian gorge at 155mph. The speed is that fastest anyone has flown with a wingsuit, a spin-off from base jumping. Wingsuit flying uses special jumpsuits that feature increased surface area to provide increased lift and they were first developed in the 1990s. His latest exploits have hit the web after he uploaded his headcam footage to YouTube with the title ‘Sense of Flying’. “People who’ve seen me about to fly off a cliff say I look perfectly calm,” says Fadnes in the video, “it’s the complete opposite – I am terrified.” Fadnes is a professional base jumper and last year he won the World BASE Race in Infijorden, Norway, ...
